Pu'u Wa'awa'a (furrowed hill) is surrounded by nature and abundant bird life. Depending on the season, the blooms of many native and exotic plants can be enjoyed. Many books about Hawai'i refer to Pu'u Wa'awa'a as one of the best locations for bird watching in the Islands.

It is well known for its first class golf courses, unique black, white and green sandy beaches, deep sea fishing, star gazing, a great diversity of water sports, waterfalls, and an active volcano. The opportunities to explore are endless.

Within 30 minutes of the Ranch gate there are 10 public golf courses, the famous warm, white sandy beaches of the Kohala coast, the Honokohau harbor, the historic Waimea town and the art village of Holualoa.

The Big Island Country Club golf course is just 1 1/2 miles from the gate.
